Eggless Donuts

🍩ITS NATIONAL DONUT DAY! 🍩

You don't need culinary skills to make perfect eggless donuts at home, what you do need is plenty of time, making them the perfect weekend baking project. If you want them for breakfast, you can wake up early and take a nap during each prove 😉.

This recipe is for a chocolate glazed donut but you can obviously glaze it with your favourite topping or even fill it.
















Ingredients (Makes 10)

· 3/4 cup warm milk

· 3 tbsp sugar

· 2 tsp yeast

· 2 cups all purpose flour

· 1/2 tsp salt

· 2 tbsp oil

· 1 cup grated cooking chocolate

· Sprinkles

Method

For the donuts:

· In a cup, add the warm milk, sugar and yeast and let it rest for five minutes

· In the meantime, in a bowl, add in the flour, salt and oil and mix well.

· Add in the milk yeast mixture and make a fine dough. Knead for 5-7 minutes.

· Rub oil over it and let it prove for one hour or until the dough doubles in size.

· Knead it for another five minutes. Make ball shapes and place them on baking paper.

· Leave them to prove for 10-15 minutes.

· Press with a leveller (I used the bottom of a flat surfaced bowl) and make a hole. You don’t need to make a hole if you’re planning to fill it.

· Fry till golden brown.

For the glaze

· Microwave the grated chocolate for one minute to melt.

· Stir the melted chocolate to break any lumps.

· Dip in the face of the donut, remove and leave to rest on the baking paper.

· Add the sprinkles on the donut before the donut hardens.

· And now the hardest part, wait for the chocolate to set before indulging.
