Pasta Shaak (Pasta Curry)

Name anything, Gujratis will shak it (make it into a curry), pasta as well. Although this isn’t a common curry found in hotels and restaurants, its one of my favourite ones we make at home. This shak consist of potatoes, carrots, peas and corn. this recipe also uses lumachine pasta to complement the size of the vegetables used in it. What makes it different from other Gujrati shaks is its gravy, tomato and basil pasta sauce! This shak can be served with some hot and simple jeera parathas.




Ingredients

· 1 cup lumachine pastas

· 2 cups tomato and basil pasta sauce

· 2 tablespoons oil

· 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

· ½ teaspoon turmeric

· ½ teaspoon chili powder

· 1 green chili cut into half

· 1 carrot

· 1 potato

· ½ cup peas

· ½ cup corn off the cob

· Salt to taste

Method

· Peel and dice the potatoes and carrots.

· In a pan on medium heat, add the oil and cumin seeds. Once the seeds start to sizzle, add the two halved chilis, pastas and vegetables.

· Add turmeric, chili powder, salt and about 5 cups of water.

· Once the vegetables and pasta are cooked, add in the pasta sauce and simmer for about 20 minutes.

· Serve with hot jeera parathas.
